Role:

We are seeking a Part-Time Research Intern to support our Mammalian Expression Team. This is a hands-on laboratory role for a locally based student or recent graduate interested in gaining experience in molecular biology and protein expression in an industry setting. The intern will assist with routine lab work and support experiments involving mammalian cell culture and protein production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining mammalian cell cultures (HEK293/CHO)
• Support the team in weekly transfections, including harvesting and preparing samples for analysis
• Help with molecular biology tasks, including plasmid prep and DNA analysis
• Keep accurate lab records and follow standard lab protocols
• Maintain lab cleanliness and assist with reagent preparation and inventory tracking

 Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
• Availability for 20–25 hours/week on set weekdays (onsite work required)
• Availability on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday needed
• Interest in protein expression, cell culture, and/or molecular biology techniques
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a collaborative lab environment
• Goal oriented, highly organized, and capable of multitasking
• Thrive in a cross functional team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 The range for this hourly internship role is $20-24 per hour, depending on experience. This role will average 20 hours per week and is located in upper La Jolla.
